Open Door Center is a Safe Zone.
Religious people accused Jesus of being “a friend of sinners.” (Cf. Matthew 11:19; Luke 7:34) How could this be? It is simply because the so-called “sinners” felt welcomed into Jesus’ presence — always!
In a church where Jesus and His Holy Spirit are said to be truly present, no one who comes in peace should feel afraid!
Jesus said, “The one who comes to Me, I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37, NKJV). This is our motto. Anywhere that Jesus is present is a Safe Zone.
There is not one instance in Scripture where Jesus caused a seeker to feel like he or she had to flee from His presence in shame. (If you are reading this to criticize, I challenge you to find one.) No one should ever feel afraid or ashamed to come through the doors of any church where the Lord Jesus is present. The only exception is if one has come to cause dissension.
We are all oppressed sinners, in that we all miss the mark of God’s holiness. So, that is exactly why Christ Jesus came — to save us sinners!
“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Timothy 1:15, NKJV).
