Prayer First Prevents the Need for Prayers Afterwards

We can be assured that the people who do evil do not pray – at least in a humble and sincere way. If people who say, “Prayer doesn’t work. Enough with the prayers!” could only understand: Preventive prayer first prevents the need for remedial prayers afterwards.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

2 Chronicles 7:14 makes it very clear: Prayer first prevents the need for prayers afterwards.

As we’ve all heard, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” There is only one way to heal our land, and that is preventive prayer. Pray first, and you will be spared a truckload of “what might have been.” When we pray, we have no idea of what God may have KEPT US FROM!

Well, you may say, “But many have become victims of evil, even when they do pray. That is true. But there is still the problem of free will. The victims who have sincerely prayed are safe in the arms of God, before, during, and after this earthly existence. But as we’ve already stated, the people who do the evil do not pray, at least in a humble and sincere way.

The great Gospel songwriter, James Cleveland, used to sing the prayer,

What shall I do?
What step should I take?
What move should I make?
O, LORD, what shall I do?

Imagine if every single person got up in the morning, knelt down at the side of the bed, and sincerely prayed this humble prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ before leaving his or her room.

May God help all those who keep telling our children and our citizens each day, both in the media, in the schools, and from high places, “Prayer doesn’t work. There’s no need to pray. There’s no God to pray to, anyway.” God help them.

“Let God be true but every man a liar.” (Romans 3:4)
